Ipanema Flip Flops

From about the age of five, I wore flip flops (aka slip slops in South Africa, and thong sandals in other places) all the time when I was not in school. I actually wore right through the soles of almost every pair I had, I wore them that much.

When I moved to Sweden I stopped wearing flip flops because the toe post felt too hard between my toes. I figured my feet had gone soft on me after all these years in Sweden where I wear shoes and socks 95% of the time. I realised the other day that I didn’t own a single pair of sandals. I have been wearing Tretorn and Converse sneakers with secret socks for years

I have been dying to try Havaianas but have not found any in stores near me (wanted to feel and try on before buying) so I caved and bought what I am assuming is an ‘inspired’ version from a local sports store. The are called Ipanema, cost me $7, and are so comfortable! The entire sandal is very soft and I cannot feel the toe post at all. I particularly like the colour of these – dull gold. I have walked long distances in them and it felt like I was barefoot!

They have some snazzed up versions, but I preferred the plain ones.
